Time to recycle

Scores of people have swamped the seven Office Depot stores in the Sacramento region with outdated electronic gear since the retailer and Hewlett-Packard Co. announced a joint recycling program.

Many of them didn't wait until the official start Sunday. Instead, they began drop-offs the day news of the program was printed in newspapers. Rather than turning people away, store managers decided to accept the equipment early.
